Mechanical Integrity Specialist

Mechanical Integrity Specialist will implement and maintain the fixed asset, rotating and Instrument & Electrical (I&E) equipment mechanical integrity program at the Research & Technology (R&T) Organization. This includes the ongoing reliability of pressure vessels, relief devices, process piping, rotating and I&E equipment. The position will support the Mechanical Integrity program through the development and maintenance of effective standards, procedures, processes, reliability, and risked based inspection programs. This position will ensure the quality of the inspection process, the optimum use of inspection contractors, act as internal technical advisor, and assume multiple project management responsibilities. This position reports to the Environmental Health & Safety Manager. The Mechanical Integrity Specialist is responsible for working with the various groups (Operations, Contractors, PSM, EHS, etc.) regarding the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the fixed asset, rotating and I&E equipment program for R&T.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Leads the site with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Mechanical Integrity (MI) program for R&T assets utilizing the appropriate inspection technologies based on corrosion and vibration mechanisms as well as failure modes in accordance with relevant codes, standards, and Recognized and Generally Acceptable Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP). Responsible for evaluating inspection practices to optimize inspections processes and costs.
Utilizes, maintains and identifies opportunities for improvement in the Computerized Maintenance Management Software program associated with the Mechanical Integrity Program to include fixed and rotating equipment, piping systems, valves, I&E hardware, and pressure relief devices.
Accountable for defining and implementing strategies for improved equipment reliability. Evaluates integrity risks, and set annual objectives to continuously calibrate risk to approved levels and optimize costs.
Working with Operations personnel, the MI Specialist selects and directs inspection contractor efforts needed to assure the integrity of the assets. Works closely with these contractors to optimize inspection costs. Creates, establishes, and maintains inspection contractor alliances. Audits new and existing contractor(s) to assure their personnel are certified and they are following their Quality Assurance (QA) manual; presents audit findings.
Reviews all inspection documentation to assure technical accuracy and provides repair recommendations and options. Creates condition reports in the site's CMMS to have the deficiencies resolved to assure that assets are safe and reliable to sustain continued operation.
Procures, manages, and coordinates the services of engineering firms for as needed engineering analysis of MI hardware to ensure minimum engineering design parameter limits are never compromised in order to guarantee compliance with applicable codes.
Liaison with the relevant jurisdictional authorities in matters related to inspection and mechanical integrity.
Maintains, populates, and publishes reliability and integrity metrics scorecards (Key Performance Indicators). Publishes on a monthly basis to track the efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance of the MI Program.
Generates yearly site specific Mechanical Integrity budgetary estimates and projected work scopes.


B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and 5 years proven industrial experience developing and maintaining an extensive mechanical integrity program under OSHA 1910.119 (j) is required.
Experience in API-510, API-570, API-579, API-571, API 576 ASTM specifications, ASME Section VIII Div. 1, ASME B31.3, and ASNT NDE is required. Certifications desired.
Strong knowledge in CMMS and Risk Based Inspection software utilized in asset reliability is required.
The ability to create, build and maintain positive working relationships with employees and contractors at all levels.
Must be a self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision.
Must be able to handle complex, pressure situations and be adaptable to a changing work environment.
Must be able to provide Operation's support on a 24/7 schedule, including holiday work when necessary.
Strong oral and written communication skills required.
This position requires 10% travel

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
